Digitalization and IoT solutions

Digitalization usually means replacing the traditional pen-and-paper methods with electronic solutions. Digitalization organizes and enhances operations. One of the essential elements of digitalization is visualization and data sharing. A real-time snapshot is the key to improving and developing LEAN-based operations.

Elkome has provided control room and videowall systems for visualizing production processes for a long time. Video surveillance also plays a big part in security. When something happens, you need to take hold of the situation as soon as possible. Axxon Next video surveillance software can analyze video materials and monitor event chains from large amounts of video data really quickly. You can read more about our video surveillance solutions on page 3 of the new Elkome News 2/2019 newsletter.

When it comes to visualization, it is crucial that the data is shared automatically to those needed and there is no need to search the databases. In LEAN production, you can utilize info screen solutions, which can display information about the production processes and key figures. Elkome's info screens systems uses, among other things, the Finnish iDiD content management and publishing system. More information about our info screen solutions can be found on pages 14-15 of the newsletter.

Visualization requires data to be collected from the facility's different systems. Usually measurements are done in the automation system but sometimes data can be found in the production management system. Modern solutions for data collection are the IoT and cloud services. Yet building  IoT systems on Azure or AWS cloud platforms isn't necessary possible or economical for everyone. The easier solution for utilizing IoT and cloud services is Secomea's Data Collection Cloud, in which data collection, storing and visualization are ready for use.
