Elkome has worked together with the Finnish Defense Force for a long time. One of the latest project is the delivery of numerous customized 2U-tall industrial computers to the Defense Force's digitalization project.

Customized special configuration

The starting point for the delivery of computers was challenging. In the public competition, all technical characteristics of the system were very precisely defined so that they could not be compromised. This set a high standard regarding innovation to fit all the requirements into the 2U-casing. The hardware size and the low volume also set their own challenges. Air circulation filters and other high technical requirements wash out the pre-made commercial solutions already at the start.

Well how much does the hardware cost? -The cheapest offer wins. The world of public competition is cruel in terms of pricing. While determining which equipment to choose, you need to trust the chosen component suppliers to make sure that you can produce quality products even under great price pressure. Product availability for several years

Deliveries were carried out over several years. This also meant that the cheapest components could not be used, instead product’s life cycle had to be taken into consideration. The hardware had to be identical in all deliveries and the cheapest components could not be used. The choice of the right suppliers and long-term co-operation were highlighted in this case too. The designing and configuration of PC systems are routine for Elkome’s sale.
