Finn-ID was searching a self-service and payment kiosk suitable for outdoor use as part of their system solution. It was a service terminal for logging in at waste transfer stations, where the customers can make the delivery-related choices and the payments themselves.

Designing and prototype manufacturing

Elkome designed and produced a prototype for solution for Finn-ID and after this a production version of the self-service kiosk too. The essential parts of the solution were the client's demands and the detailed customization. The product had to fulfill all the requirements for both its functionality and its ability to withstand the working conditions.

Durability under challenging conditions

It is extremely important while designing the product to account for the challenging conditions of Finland - not only the cold and snowy winter but also the hot summer, the rain and the varying humidity. Suitable components were chosen according to the conditions during the designing.

Components fitting the requirements

Electric components, a computer and a touchscreen work from situation to situation. But if the client wants, different extra devices like RFID, barcode and bank card readers can be added.

Special attention to appearance

Instead of a traditional and boring box, we wanted to also pay attention to the looks and appearance. Despite the durable structure, the smooth paintjob and the dark bulletproof glass that covers the whole frontal panel brought style into this solution.
