As part of Empower's control room upgrade, Elkome carried out a KVM and videowall system investigation, in which the compatibility of the current equipment was tested. The goal was to ensure the success of the large investment.

Utilizing existing infrastructure

Baseline of the design was that the systems would be installed in a separate space if possible. The goal was to reduce the amount of computers and other devices in the control room for both security and temperature as well as clarity reasons. The KVM solutions were chosen based on the current devices and software.

When designing the KVM solution, we took into consideration the amount of monitors and data, as well as the management of multiple systems at one station. The possibility of expanding the KVM system into the videowall system was also required. The control room was also mapped for installing the new system. The installation locations of the devices and the caballing were determined in the mapping.

Pre-investigation prepares the implementation

Finally a comprehensive documentation of the investigation as well as the graphs of the KVM and videowall systems were delivered to the customer. Utilizing the modern wide screen displays and control room optimization were also take into consideration in the design and the documentation.
