Standardizing simplifies maintenance

Murata wanted to standardize its production computers by updating its old office computers with new industrial PCs. The old computers consisted of different products from a wide range of manufacturer. This made management and maintenance time-consuming and costly. By standardizing, they managed to reduce the life-cycle costs from upkeeps significantly. Maintenance and storing spare parts became easier as well, since the number of products decreased.

The average lifetime of office computers is three years - and usually shorter in more challenging environments. Industrial computers, with their more durable and higher quality components, can ensure a lifetime of at least five years. eREX computers aren't more expensive than their office counterparts, which makes them notably more cost-efficient. Industrial computers also significantly lower maintenance and spare part costs.
