Measurement system to ensure performance and durability
Metso ensures the performance and durability of new products through product development measurements at the research center and at customer sites. Gantner Instruments’ measuring devices and DASYLab measuring software were chosen as the measuring system designed and implemented by Elkome.
Versatile measurement system for product development
Metso manufactures crushers and supplies crushing and screening plants for aggregate production, construction material recycling and mining. They want to ensure the performance and durability of new machines and systems with product development measurements made at the research center and at customer sites. The measuring equipment must be easy to carry, but also suitable for longer measurements at fixed installation sites.
- Metso has been using measuring devices supplied by Elkome for a long time, so the purchase of new systems was natural from a familiar supplier, says Measurement Engineer Henri Siiskonen.
Modular and portable measurement system
Metso acquired four new portable Gantner Q.Brixx measuring equipment for product development. Gantner's modularity enables IO units to be easily changed to suit the current measurement need. The selection includes IO units for measuring electrical power, vibration, hydraulic pressures, temperature and rotation speed, among other things. Strain gauges are used to measure frame stresses.
- The portable measurement system is easy to take with you to installation sites. Modularity enables different measurements to be made with one and the same equipment, Siiskonen justifies the choice of equipment.
Easy-to-use measurement software
Metso has also used the DASYLab measurement software with earlier measurement equipment. DASYLab is an easy-to-use, yet versatile software for performing measurements and analyzing afterwards. DASYLab is perfectly suited for gig measurements, because the measurement application can be quickly adapted to the current need. It is also easy to load previous measurement results into the software and perform various filtering and calculations on them.
- It was natural to choose DASYLab-compatible measuring devices for the new measurement system. The familiar measurement software made it possible to quickly and efficiently implement the new system, continues Siiskonen's reasons for purchasing the measurement system.
